KJTS Group Berhad (“KJTS”) has signed an agreement to acquire a 70.67 percent stake in iHandal Holdings Sdn. Bhd. (“iHandal”) for RM10.1 million through its wholly owned subsidiary, KJ Technical Services Sdn. Bhd.
iHandal is a specialist engineering group focused on heat recovery and waste heat utilisation systems. Its patented Heatfuse system is deployed across industrial, healthcare and hospitality facilities in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and selected Asia Pacific markets.
This move strengthens KJTS’s transition from Cooling as a Service towards a broader Energy as a Service model. The Group has built its foundation on delivering efficient cooling infrastructure. With the integration of heat recovery capability, KJTS can now optimise the full thermal cycle, from cooling generation to waste heat capture and reuse.
Industrial cooling and thermal systems account for a significant portion of operating costs in energy-intensive facilities. Rising electricity tariffs and tighter sustainability requirements continue to increase pressure on building owners and operators. Heat recovery addresses this challenge directly by converting waste heat into usable thermal energy.
In suitable operating applications, the Heatfuse system has demonstrated energy savings of approximately 25 percent through effective waste heat recovery and reuse. Integrating this capability into KJTS’s core energy services platform allows for more coordinated system design, stronger performance accountability and improved long term value delivery.
Ownership of proprietary heat recovery technology also reduces reliance on third parties. This provides greater control over engineering integration, lifecycle performance and service quality across projects. It strengthens KJTS’s position in delivering end-to-end thermal energy efficiency solutions to customers who require measurable energy outcomes.
This development marks a clear step forward in KJTS’s evolution as an integrated energy services provider. By combining cooling generation with heat recovery under a single operating framework, the Group strengthens its role across the thermal energy value chain and enhances its ability to support customers in managing cost, efficiency and sustainability objectives.
