ENGINEER

Job Purpose

The role oversees the operation and maintenance of cooling systems at a live data centre, manages preventive maintenance programmes, ensures timely response to technical issues, maintains accurate documentation, and builds strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily operations of the project site and supervise the service team.
  • Act as the main point of contact between the client, Midea, and the site team.
  • Ensure 24/7 site support and timely response to service requests in accordance with service level requirements.
  • Plan and oversee preventive maintenance to ensure optimal system performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues, coordinate fault rectification, and perform root cause analysis.
  • Prepare and maintain operational, maintenance, and service reports.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company procedures, and client requirements.
  • Manage site inventory, spare parts, and maintenance resources efficiently.
  • Provide technical guidance to the site team and support testing, commissioning, and system improvements.
  • Train and develop team members while monitoring performance and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, Refrigeration Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in HVAC, chiller plant operations, or service engineering. Experience in data centres or critical facilities is an added advantage.

 

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Hands-on experience in HVAC systems, chillers, coolant distribution units (CDUs), or VRF systems.
  • Good knowledge of refrigeration principles, system troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning.
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS); knowledge of PLC controls is an added advantage.
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings. AutoCAD knowledge is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of safety standards, building regulations, and HVAC industry practices.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. Refrigerant Handling, CIDB Green Card, First Aid, Working at Height) are an added advantage.
  • Willing to work on a 24/7 shift rotation, including weekends, public holidays, and emergency call-outs.
  • Strong analytical, communication, report writing, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Additional language proficiency in Mandarin would be an advantage.
