The mall’s chiller plant was in poor condition. One chiller had failed, and the remaining units suffered frequent breakdowns. After the mall expansion, the system could not meet the new load. There was limited technical experience and minimal vendor support to run the plant effectively.
KJTS identified the need to upsize the smaller chiller to match the expanded cooling load. The upgraded plant is now monitored continuously by the KJTS Command Centre energy engineers to ensure stable performance and early fault detection.
The retrofit delivered 42 percent actual yearly savings and 28 percent reduction in cooling energy cost. Environmental benefits equal 321,614 trees or 6,432 acres of forest preserved.
